"Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond."

What is a Forest Therapy Guided Walk?
Shinrin – Yoku, Japanese for Forest Bathing, is known commonly in North America as Forest Therapy. As an experienced certified graduate from Global Institute of Forest Therapy, I lead you through a journey of nature, appreciation, and gratitude. During this journey our walk is broken down into many planned exercises or “Invitations”. These invitations help you clear your mind. During these invitations I will ask you to find a spot to sit that speaks to you. I will ask you to be present in your thoughts and to connect with the nature that surrounds you. To simply sit and be in the moment of what you are experiencing can bring out many emotions for individuals. Each person’s experience of these guided walks can vary but the common feeling after a Forest Therapy walk is a sense of calm, appreciation, connection and a deeper respect for nature.
Scientific research has demonstrated that this technique can have many healing effects for the person including: reduced stress, lowered blood pressure, stabilized moods, help with depression and anxiety as well as the healing chemicals from the trees and plants aids in boosting our immune systems.
The more time spent among trees and surrounded by nature, the more this helps our bodies natural rhythms and can assist in digestion, sleep and overall well being.
The goal after the experiences or invitations during these walks is that you will feel more balanced, focused and calm. The forest will also have earned your respect and gratitude. This reciprocal relationship with nature has come to be extremely valuable in our busy lives, and at times, necessary.
Why a Guided walk?
A certified guide is essential, as your guide encourages specific exercises (invitations) throughout your journey. These are carefully timed invitations that make the entire experience beneficial for each individual. They allow the time, and tools, for each person to achieve or realize what their own personal (conscious or unconscious) needs are for this walk. The Guide is there to educate you about the benefits of nature, and lead you through a beautiful, enlightening experience.
What have people asked?
Q ~ How long are the walks?
A ~ The walks are generally about 2.5 – 3 hours long.
Q ~ Do I need to be physically fit to take these walks?
A ~ Not at all. These walks are customized to each group or person. They are done at a very
slow pace.
Q ~ Are the walks done in a group setting or one on one?
A ~ Both! I can do walk for one person, or I can do a walk for up to 20 – 25 people.
Q ~ Do you go with people you don’t know?
A ~ Some are groups that know each other, others come along and meet new people in the
woods. It’s a great way to develop community.
Q ~ Is there food provided?
A ~ The final invitation is called a tea ceremony and there is always a light snack provided with
the tea made from the forest.
Q ~ Do I need to bring anything?
A ~ I usually ask people to wear comfortable running shoes or woods shoes, comfortable
clothing and layers if it might be chilly. A water bottle is recommended as well as bug spray and
sunscreen. I provide a mat for you to sit during your invitations.
Q ~ Do you do the walks rain or shine?
A ~ Yes. Some of the best walks can be during a beautiful rain shower. Thunder lightning and
high winds would be reasons for cancellation.

Here's a little about me and my story...
I have spent over 30 years enjoying the natural areas of my London, Ontario neighbourhood. My family has spent time playing and exploring the streams and rivers, climbing trees and finding cool bugs, birds and mammals. Throughout those many years, when my mind and spirit would feel an unease, I would naturally head to my second home, “nature” to recharge, slow down my reeling thoughts and find the balance that I needed. This led me to a passion to share the incredible healing medicine that nature provides. After many years of enjoying nature in my limited spare time, I felt compelled to take my love for nature further and share these experiences and all the many benefits of our wonderful forests, as a certified Forest Therapy Guide.
One of my best attributes is, I am a gatherer. I tend to naturally bring people together. I connect like minded individuals, build on their incredible gifts while encouraging community in the forest. Hearts seem to open, conversation flows, and community expands.
I feel extremely grateful to be able provide the gift of these walks, to gather individuals and share all the love, peacefulness, beauty and benefits that nature holds for us.
